01 Purpose & scope

This hub is the entry point for fire-protection engineering within the data center infrastructure domain. It covers life-safety and asset-protection measures across two complementary layers: detection (VESDA, aspirating smoke detection, ionisation/optical spot detectors, gas detectors for Li-ion off-gas) and suppression (total-flooding clean-agent systems sized to NFPA 2001, pre-action sprinkler, water-mist).

Compartmentation — fire-rated construction, dampers, penetration sealing, and raised-floor fire breaks — is a third layer that prevents propagation between fire zones.
