Public brief · simulated engineering model

A 500 MW liquid-cooled AI factory, modelled end to end

This module is a simulated teaching model of an AI data centre at GB300 NVL72 density — not a built facility and not a vendor design. Every quantity below is computed by the page’s own engine from a locked set of authored inputs, and each one is traceable: click a figure to open its basis record, with the derivation, evidence class and source.

The figures are the facility totals. They are read from the same parameter registry, under the same basis ids, that the interactive cockpit uses — so this brief cannot drift from the model it describes.

How it is derived

The thermal chain runs ambient → dry cooler → warm-water loop → row CDU → cold plate, with free cooling on the liquid path and no evaporative term, which is why the water figure is structurally zero. The electrical chain steps 150 kV to 20 kV to 400 V, with a transformer at every transition. The methodology, the parameter register and the worked examples are public:

Why the cockpit itself is gated

The interactive cockpit carries operator surfaces — equipment HMIs, a fire-isolation register, cause-and-effect matrices — that are training instruments, and a half-read instrument is worse than none. Those need a Full access or Educator account. The engineering above does not.

A hall is only a design if what it contains fits inside it and the air it must move can leave it. Both are computed, not asserted.

Rack density & platform study

The adopted GB300 basis is authoritative. The retired split-domain basis is kept as a named comparison study so the change of platform can be read, never as a number this page still computes.

Selecting a reference profile never changes the adopted engine, the displayed simulated KPI, the electrical sizing, the cooling sizing, or the generated current-design document.

    Protection state per zone

Zones — what is protected, what is impaired, what happens next

A clean-agent zone needs two independent detection means for its double-interlock release. Below two it is IMPAIRED: release inhibited, fire watch required. Click a tile for the inspector; its points are listed under Related.
